There is a tinge of sadness in the winery notes for this Rizza, as it will apparently be the last Lethbridge Riesling drawn from the Barrett vineyard in Portland (as the Barrett’s are retiring).

Produced in a ‘Mosel inspired’ style, this is hand-picked, whole bunch pressed and wild yeast fermented on partial solids, leaving 10g/L residual sugar.

Something of a feinherb-esque, off-dry form, this has a seriously intense lemon-lime citrus now and a gently sweet, quite soft palate. I think it’s just a little too sweet, but utterly unforced and quite pure Riesling that is very easy to enjoy.

Drink: 2013-2020
Score: 17.5/20, 91/100
Would I buy it? A 2-3 glass proposition easily.
