Ah the bottle variation lottery. Every time we play the guessing game – is this a representative bottle? I certainly hope not, as this is – to put it bluntly – ordinary.

Much of the blame here rests at the feet of Brettanomyces, which just loves high alcohol, low acid wines like this. Damn you Brett!

Anyways, this is rustic, meaty, beery, bacony and ordinary, the palate carrying the trademark hardness of Brett. There is ‘good’, meaty, mushroomy Brett (or at least subtle Brett) and then there is a roadtrip to the farmyard. This Agiano may as well come with a sheep on the label…
