Mistletoe Reserve Chardonnay 2011

Mistletoe Reserve Chardonnay 2011 (Hunter Valley, NSW)
13.4%, Screwcap, $40

Nice to drop back in on this Chardonnay, which has a brace of gold medals and trophies to its name.

Hand harvested from two low cropped Pokolbin vineyards, this is whole bunch pressed and matured in French oak puncheons.
Initially a worked an oak beast – smells oakier than it actually is. The palate, though, is lovely – fully ripe nectarine fruit with soft acidity and a creamy finish. Really clean and taut, yet ripe – worked, but not manufactured.

Satisfying, full tilt, riper style Chardonnay. Enjoyable.
