A cool, choc-minty and elegant wine it is too – mid weight, svelte but still ripe and genuinely full, lifted by vanilla bean oak and fine tannins. The oak and fruit is still all-arms-and-legs, sorely in need of another 6 months in bottle to come together, though the structure is sound.
There’s something classic about the this wine actually, that choc-mint character reminding of the old Jamiesons Run McShanes Block Shiraz (just without the oak). Some may not like the mint, but it gives this a regional stamp.
Attractive, refreshing, mid-weight Coonawarra Shiraz.
