Capital Wines The Whip Riesling 2013 (Canberra District)
11.1%, Screwcap, $19
A tricky vintage in Canberra with a late season deluge really throwing a few spanners.
There’s lots of acid in this. Lots. Driven by acid it is, grapefruity acidity. Refreshing too. The rest of the palate though looks nutty, forward and overly developed, leaving behind just acidity. Perhaps some rot in there too?
Great wine for cleaning driveways but little joy beyond that. Not sure if it will fill out in the future either.
