Dodgy Bros Rose 2014

Dodgy Bros Rose 2014 (McLaren Vale, SA)
13.5%, Screwcap, $18

‘For Christs sake drink with food. Think Coopers Pale Ale’

That’s the Wes ‘Dodgy’ Pearson disclaimer that came on the bottle of this, describing it more as wine experiment than drink.

But this really works, the full solids ferment and minimal filtration giving this a haze and fullness of texture that so many squeaky clean Aussie roses lack (and I like).

There’s still the classic Grenache redcurrant juiciness and even a little candy, but set dry, savoury and even a little chewy. Sadly I didn’t have anything on hand to drink this with bar a handful of dates (tough times at Graham HQ), but you know what? It went ok with them too.

Delicious summer drink.
