Church Road Hawke’s Bay Pinot Gris 2014
Hawke’s Bay Gris doesn’t get much love. Wonder if this full-flavoured style sells?
Green straw coloured, this smells of musk and rich pear – it’s every bit the Alsace white style, viscous, slightly warm and chunky. I like the weight here – a proper mouthful of wine. It’s quite developed and needs drinking sooner rather than later, but a solid and long, fully textured white. Best drinking: 2016-2017. 17/20, 90/100. 14.5%, $25.99. Would I buy it? A glass would do.
