Tulloch Vineyard Selection Hunter Valley Verdelho 2015

Tulloch Vineyard Selection Hunter Valley Verdelho 2015

Tulloch celebrated 120 years in 2015. A mighty milestone in anyone’s language. This Verdelho comes from three Hunter vineyards (hence the ‘vineyard selection’ name. Wild times).

Green straw coloured, the nose is immediately ripe and full, all aromatic mango and ripe tropical fruit, that follows into a juicy, slightly sweet and round palate that is all about mouthfilling pear fruit and a chunky, just sweet finish before typical Verdelho phenolics. Robust flavours, but also sweet fruited, it’s affable and generous, if lacking complexity beyond that – just a bit rough and fat for more love. Best drinking: 2016-2017. 16/20, 87/100. 13.3%, $18. Would I buy it? Not quite.
