Lark Hill Canberra Viognier 2015
I loved Lark Hill’s Mr.V, but this straight Viognier is just a little behind the mark. Still a good example of the V weed, but nowhere near the rich delights of the blend.
As with other Lark Hill wines, a portion of this is wild fermented in older oak. Showing peach skin varietal characters, the high acid palate is slightly raw, firm and dry, with just a little peach juice richness over the top.
Quintessentially acid driven, this is clean and classy but I just want more flavour to counteract the brisk nature – too early picked? Best drinking: 2016-2019. 16.8/20, 89/100. 11.5%, $40. Would I buy it? Not quite.
