Leeuwin Estate Siblings Margaret River Shiraz 2013
Margaret River Shiraz doesn’t usually ring my bell, but no denying the appeal here.
A blend of 93% Shiraz, 5% Malbec, 2% Viognier this was open fermented with 15% whole bunches. Spends 18 months in 30% new barrels. Impressive handling for the pricepoint.

Boysenberry red/purple, this is open and easy with a swathe of vanilla icecream oak and red berry on the juicy nose. Lots of thick fruit and a round texture, this is not delicate but breadth of the mid palate is impressive. Light tannins and some alcohol warmth to finish.
Simple fruit, perhaps, but still much to give in this modern Margs Shiraz. Bloody substantial for $22! Best drinking: 2016-2020. 17.5/20, 91/100. 13.7%, $22.50. Would I buy it? Not strictly my bag ( a bit jubey for that), but I’d recommend.
