Peter Lehmann 8 Songs Barossa Shiraz 2013
Now that Peter Lehmann is part of the Casella stable the brand seems to be getting more love. Interesting to see what happens now.
This Shiraz – which was once hotly anticipated – comes from vineyards in Stonewell, Nuriootpa, Light Pass, Vine Vale & Eden Valley. A varied mix from all over the Barossa Zone.
Dark blood red, this shows just a little of the vintage warmth, with wet bricks, cooked plum and cocoa powder, the nose deep and rich. That coffeed, deep richness is classic too – it’s going to hook in lovers of the richer, heartier Barossa style in a heartbeat. Maybe a a little dried fruit on the finish, but it’s not hard or hot (if slightly tart). Lots of old-school Barossa charm here. Best drinking: 2019-2030. 17.7/20, 92/100. 14.5%, $45. Would I buy it? 2 glasses.
