BEER: Modus Operandi Dream Weaver Unfiltered IPA
‘I have the IPA’
That was the message I sent to my long-suffering partner Jacqui at 10am Saturday morning, just on 24hrs after this beer had been released. Oh yes, I was pumped to have a few cans of the latest cloudy IPA from our favourite local brewery in hand. It wasn’t quite Christmas, but I was eager.
And this Dream Weaver is another delicious release too. Maybe not quite as life-affirming as the Majestic Leopard before it, but it’s still a delight.
Here, it’s a blend of Amarillo, Centennial, Citra and Simcoe hops and with a Pilsner malt. It’s a tropical number, with banana esters and tropical aromatics and a less strictly herbaceous, hop-driven nose. A broadly bitter palate with the same tropical fruit, the malt kicking out the back palate with some grain presence.
Itβs not a hop focused IPA – milder and rounder, even juicier than that – but there’s still a lot of flavour to get your head around. I liked. 7%. 4 stars. Would I buy it? I’ll keep drinking it, but I’m not sure I love it enough to pay the price premium over Sonic Prayer. Canned on 17/04/18 (FRESSHHH).
