Eldorado Road Onyx Durif 2015

This has to be one of the best Durif in Australia. From a single vineyard in Rutherglen, this is what the grape should taste like. Black jelly beanz, licorice and an almost limitless black fruit intensity. Soft acidity, clean lines and integrated tannins, this is a teensy bit confected, but ultimately it’s a very classy Durif expression. Doesn’t feel hot either. Yes. Best drinking: Now, but will be kicking on for many years yet. I’d expect it still to be in rude health as a 20yo. 18/20, 93/100. 14.4%, $37. Would I buy it? I’d share a bottle.
