Schwarz Meta Mataro 2017
Another easy drink from the Schwarz Meta line. Handpicked and wild fermented Barossa Mataro with 20% whole bunches.
This is a wine built to please. Purple edged, it’s full of rather ripe and luscious fruit – juicy, plump and blackberried. A lavish wine. I kept waiting for tannins or something to fill out the back palate, but it’s just a fresh and juicy easy drinking red. Good balance, and love the blackberry flow, but compared to the storming Grenache this seems just a tad too easygoing. Best drinking: Now to eight years. 17.5/20, 91/100. 13.8%, $35. Would I buy it? I’d drink it but buy the Grenache.
