Lou Miranda Shiraz Centarian Mataro 2015

Old vine Shiraz Mataro, with the Mataro component in particular over 100 year old. For all that old vine fruit it seems to have been covered up by toasty oak. It makes a statement with the plushness of its oak, that flavour covering up everything, filling the palate with sweet flavours oak flavours. Curiously this didn’t see much new oak according to the notes, but that’s the dominant flavour. The end result is super smooth and polished, but difficult to see the terroir here for mine. Best drinking: From two and then fifteen years easy. 17/20, 90/100. 14.5%, $90. Would I buy it? Not at that price.
