La Linea Tempranillo 2018
It has been some time since the last La Linea wines landed in the official Graham PO box and it looks like the quality has continued to be high and prices haven’t gone up. How can I argue with that combination?
This is very good Adelaide Hills Tempranillo. Bright joyful fruit with varietal milk chocolate, the red fruit giving way to mulchy, drying tannins. Captures the contrast of bright fruit that you’d see in a classic joven style Temp, but with significant tannins and pose. There’s a joyfulness here, a lucidity of fruit and then the tannins give a kicker too. Intriguingly, you could close your eyes and imagine this was a top tier modern Hills Shiraz given that mid-palate generosity. But the tannins and that milk chocolate character are classic Temp.
Not bad for $29.
Best drinking: now to ten years. But don’t wait. 18/20, 93/100. 14%, $29. Would I buy it? Yes.

This is a review that has convinced me to invest in a bottle. Joyfulness seems like a great quality in a wine.
I feel that wines like this have a sense of joy to them too. An exuberance of fruit. I’m a fan.
Okay. Tried my local VC’s for no joy. Any suggestions? In Melbourne.
