Deadly serious Roussanne from McLaren Vale. Arguably this Yangarra Roussanne 2019 is too serious, the edges phenolic and firm, the palate backwards and still breaking out after 7 months in barrel and then the short quarter or so since then in bottle.
There is some late, creamed apple generosity but it’s late. Still, length is very good, and the complexity sneaks up on you. It’s just not an easy drink, the tangy phenolics and warm alcohol making this just a fraction ungenerous. Best drinking: next year. 17.5/20, 91/100+. 14.5%, $35. Yangarra website. Would I buy it? A glass now. More later.
