Vino Intrepido Spanna in the Works Nebbiolo 2019

Review: Vino Intrepido Spanna in the Works Nebbiolo 2019

Another wine from the Malakoff Vineyard, and fascinating to see the results in context of the other Malakoff-sourced wines recently. Classy wine this Vino Intrepido Spanna in the Works Nebbiolo 2019 is too. Taps into a long skin contact, gently red fruited Nebb style. Vibrant red cherry fruit, a whiff of leaf litter, grippy tannins a nod to the extended time on skins, otherwise a certain beauty to this. My only gripe is that I want just a bit more concentration to fill out the guts of the wine to make it really convincing. Style here though.

Best drinking: now to ten plus years. 17.5/20, 91/100. 13.5%, $34.99. Vino Intrepido website. Would I buy it? Worth a few glasses.

  1. Oh, oh, I hope they don’t get into trouble for using a local Italian name for Nebbiolo. That would put a real spanner in the works!

  2. True true. Though I can’t imagine this will even get on the radar given the volumes.
