No Canberra Riesling for Gundog in ’20 (thanks asshole bushfires), so this Gundog Estate Riesling 2020 comes from De Bortoli’s Yarra Valley vineyard.
Tangy, pristine white with bright lime fruit and no shortage of intensity – there’s even a little stonefruit in there. It’s a slightly atypical Riesling (duhh Andrew, it’s Yarra Riesling so hardly typical anyway), but that mid-palate width and grapefruit acidity to finish makes it an easy drink.
A good result. Best drinking: good to go. 17.7/20, 92/100. 13%, $35. Gundog Estate website. Would I buy it? I’d share a bottle.
