The top dog Pinot for Oakridge and it’s another lovely, ripe, open-hearted wine. This Oakridge 864 Henk Pinot Noir 2019 is a very likeable Yarra Pinot too.
The Henk Vineyard is highly prized, with this plot at Woori Yallock leased by Oakridge as David Bicknell and team like the fruit so much. This 2019 release Includes 20% whole bunches. and matured fin 10% new oak for 10 months.
What a lovely, raspberried wine. Maybe a fraction warm, but that’s the only fault. Raspberry, a passing note of stalks, the palate ripe, warming and full of flesh. It’s just a little breathy to finish, but the cavorting red fruit is up for the task. Satisfying.
Oakridge 864 Henk Pinot Noir 2019. Best drinking: I like this style younger. Over the next five years for mine. 18.5/20, 94/100. 14.3%, $90. Oakridge website. Would I buy it? Just a bit pricey for me. I’d drink a bottle in a flash, however.
