Always interesting Chardonnay from Patina. They can be a bit too lean, but vitality is typically high. This top dog Patina Reserve Chardonnay 2018 is a case in point.
Nutty, worked style of Orange Chardonnay that is very lean underneath but builds up the palate with oak, lees and more. Plenty of complexity here. You just wish for more weight on the palate, but it all works. Don’t drink it too cold, that’s also a takeaway. Class and interest here and it will get better with another year or so in bottle.
Patina Reserve Chardonnay 2018. Best drinking: will live and live. Now or for another decade. 17.7/20, 92/100. 12.7%, $60. Patina website. Would I buy it? A glass or so. It’s a bit exxy for a whole bottle.
