Dalrymple Cottage Block Pinot Noir 2019

Review: Dalrymple Cottage Block Pinot Noir 2019

Oh boy. If you like the standard Dalrymple Pinot (which I did), then you need to try this Dalrymple Cottage Block Pinot Noir 2019.

The Cottage Block is one of the single vineyard offerings from this most-improved producer, drawn from one of the oldest blocks on the Dalrymple Vineyard in Pipers River.

It’s a big-boned Tassie Pinot, and beautifully so. Raspberries, mushroom, a savoury chunkiness through the middle and a lift through the finish. Lovely wine this. There’s a textural resonance here, a sense of purpose, rather than just being Yalumba playing in Tasmania. Maybe a little oaky? A minor quibble for what is a very impressive, full-tilt Tasmanian Pinot Noir.

Dalrymple Cottage Block Pinot Noir 2019. Best drinking: go now. It’s going to live for the short term, but now is better than good. 18.7/20, 95/100. 14%, $64. Darymple website. Would I buy it? Sure would.
