Harewood Estate Mount Barker Riesling 2022

The laser-sharp freshness of the Harewood Estate Mount Barker Riesling 2022

There are now, by my count, four different single vineyard Harewood Estate Riesling from 2022. Four! I can’t think of many other producers (maybe John Hughes’ Riesling Rieslingfreak) with that many single vineyard Riesling releases in Australia. Any others? They’re uniformly excellent too, as is this Harewood Estate Mount Barker Riesling 2022.

A love nose – it smells of freshness, all pristine lime, lemon, grapefruit and green melon, with the palate following with the same expression and super fresh acidity to match. It’s probably one of the more rounded wines in the 2022 Harewood lineup, and yet still feels tightly wound and wonderfully fresh. It just feels crisp and energetic and uplifting (though acidic too).

You want a wine for an Aussie summer? Look no further.

Best drinking: this summer. 18.5/20, 94/100. 12%, $35. Harewood Estate website. Would I buy it? Sure would.
