Hunter’s is one of the most classically styled Semillon in the Gundog range – so low alc, linear and built to live forever, but with some immediacy. This ’23 is such a green-fruited wine, with green apple and unripe lemon flavour, although the acidity is soft, not firm. Great lines – you feel like the future is set, even if it’s intended to be approachable. A wine for now, that will look even better later.

Almost sounds like they should make sparkling out of Semillon, with all that low alc, high acid, unripe grape flavour running through it . Makes me wonder why I’ve never seen one in the wild??
Interesting to see the lack of interest in this post. Probably resembles the lack of interest in Semillon from the Hunter TBH.
I’m ok with the fact that Hunter Semillon is a niche product. I won’t stop banging on about it…
