Rising Pinot Noir 2022

Review: Rising Pinot Noir 2022. $38 well spent

This is too good for $38. It deserves fancy money, maybe $50 plus. Actually scratch that, because part of the charm with the Rising Pinot Noir 2022 is that it’s not trying to be some super cuvee with too much oak/stems/something. Nup. It’s just a really nice, fine-boned, proudly Yarran Pinot from the hands of Anthony Fikkers (who also makes the very tidy In Dreams wines). Sappy raspberry fruit to the fore here, with a bunchy, peppery, fragrance and a curranty red fruit palate. There’s a bit of a tussle between the undergrowth whole bunch character and that raspberried palate, but the contrasts make for so much wine, without every being obvious or disjointed. There’s some lovely punchy tannins for good measure too. Well bloody done.
