$50 says this is a wildly popular wine at Mike de Iuliis’ Hunter Valley cellar door. That’s not a bad thing either – every winemaker needs to have something bright and juicy in the range to my mind. But maybe that’s just the marketer in me. What sort of rosé would you make?
Merlot and Shiraz make up the blend with this Hunter Valley rosé, and it’s bright with reasonably deep colour compared to many modern rosé with a bit of pink raspberry fairy floss sweetness (though it’s not sweet), and then a crisp finish. Does exactly what it intends to, without looking overdone, too sweet or too dry. Just affable af.
