Longview Twin Palms Pinot Noir 2023

Review: Longview Twin Palms Pinot Noir 2023

It’s interesting (maybe just to me) that this Pinot is one of the weaker wines in the strong Longview range. Don’t be fooled – Pinot is not the Adelaide Hills grape variety you’re necessarily looking for.

Ripe kirsch fruit aplenty here, the style round and a little syrupy for such moderated alcohol, even if the kernel of ripe red raspberry and cherry flesh is attractive. There’s this unshakeable feeling of a warm wine hiding in that early-picked fruit, with the bitter finish holding back a wine that threatens to be big. It’s attractive enough and silver medal quality, but it doesn’t feel like an ideal site/variety mix (compared to the Nebbiolo, Syrah or even Barbera-based Longview wines).
