Hirsch Hill Estate Shiraz 2022

Review: Hirsch Hill Estate Shiraz 2022

Moody, stalky Yarra Shiraz still coming together. There’s a sullen and closed nose of white peppery lightness that the lacquer of vanilla bean oak can’t hide. It’s a work in progress (indeed, the label isn’t ready; pictured is the 2021 image), trying to come out from the oak, a savoury, peppery wine sweetened by condensed milk oak, and then firm, black, bitter tannins to finish. A wine of two halves, I guess, and we just have to wait for the two bits to join back up again.
