Monday mornings rarely feel like the right time to be hooking into a frisky light red unless you’re on holiday (which I’m definitely not). This Longview Fresco 2022 is pretty lunchtime-able if that’s your vibe today, though (and with great packaging, too) – it’s a crunchy blend of Adelaide Hills Nebbiolo, ‘Pinot Nero’ and Barbera. It’s a bit chewy and angular, but that’s part of the vibe – its best work is at lunch. That acidity gives it more liveliness, too, especially with no obvious oak to shroud the fruit. Maybe on its own, the angles are a bit much, but drinking al fresco with an antipasto plate it will win fans.
