Housekeeping: Emails are changing

The way you receive email updates from Australian Wine and Drinks Review is changing.

From next week, I’m transitioning from one email provider to a much simpler one.

The good part about this transition is that you can now choose to receive how often you receive email updates from this site. You can choose instant updates (i.e., straight after I hit the ‘publish’ button), daily, or even weekly. Instant will be the default, meaning more wine reviews will be in your inbox faster (or more chances to see dumb errors when I break things).

One key change is that emails will also come from a different address that you should add to your address book right now (the name will still be Australian Wine and Drinks Review, but the email address will be comment-reply@wordpress.com). As that email title suggests, if you reply to the email, you can put a comment straight onto the post as well. Too easy!

More broadly, this is the first step of a plan to make posts for subscribers only. No, it’s not a paywall; this little donation-run website isn’t changing in that way (yet). But the AI copyright theft of content is now out of control, and I can’t keep blocking all the crawler bots, so this is the logical way forward.
