I’m rather pleased to be ticking ‘have a Brazilian’ off my to do list. This red is reasonably interesting too, in its own way…

It’s a quite classic blend actually (save for the Tannat) of 60% Cabernet, 30% Merlot and 10% Tannat, built in a style that reminds me of a rustic southern Italian Cabernet blend – you could slap an IGT on this and it would be right at home.

That doesn’t mean that it’s necessarily a great wine, with this particular bottle carrying more than a little brett, astringent tannins and some rather raw acidity (just for balance). There’s a ‘tomato bush’ hint of unripe Merlot in there too, yet also some rather rich, fast-maturing quickly, dusty meaty fruit, with just enough generosity to give this some appeal, if only to drink with something very meaty.

With Brazil’s wine industry booming, let’s put this down to an anomaly (or an odd bottle) and hope for good things to come. I have faith.

Drink: 2013-2018
Score: 14.5/20, 80/100
Would I buy it? I couldn’t even finish a glass. So no.

Sounds painful. Ouch. I'll pass on one of those.

    1. You've got to try everything once. I figure this is a much more pain-free opportunity 🙂
