Coonawarra Chardonnay – the ugly duckling of Coonawarra and a variety/region combo that never works, largely because no one is taking it seriously…
This isn’t going to change anyone’s mind either. It tastes of dull oak, angular acidity and with a hard edge. Sure there is some richer barrel characters in there, and the intensity is not questioned, but the whole style seems old-fashioned and unnaturally hard edged. Not much fun.
Drink: 2013-2014
Score: 15.5/20, 85/100
Would I buy it? No.
