This is underdone.
It seems rude to say so given just how painstaking the attention to detail is at Shaw + Smith, but this looks just a little underdone, the fruit more vinous and less ‘dry-red’ than in previous years, but with quite aggressive acidity and a sappy edge that doesn’t quite let this flow.
Ultimately carrying much more ‘pinosity’ than in some vintages, yet just a little too light to satisfy, suggesting the quest for delicacy has come at a cost of fruit weight.
Drink: 2014-2017
Score: 16.5/20, 88/100
Would I buy it? Not quite.

Looks like Adam "Wonderboy" Wadewitz couldn't spread any fairy dust over this one!
Ha. The '12 Shiraz is a star though!
