Rory Story (Rory Lane according to his driver’s license) wrote ‘big impact’ in white ink on the side of this bottle, and it’s hard to argue. This is a scintillating Riesling from cold and windy Henty – a region that is only going to get more popular in years to come.

Sourced from 30 year old vines, this was fermented in a combination of barrel (20%, wild ferment) and tank, the final blend carrying 7g/L of residual sugar. Unless you’re looking for the sugar, however, you’d swear this was bone-dry. It smells of grapefruit, fresh squeezed lime and more grapefruit juice – like a Margarita, just without the Tequila (or sugar syrup).

The real driver here is the palate which is firmly dry, phenolic and super powerful – you can just taste every tangy, acid-etched nook and cranny in there, the definition sublime.

Stunning, razor sharp Riesling with perfect length and weight. Stunning.

Drink: 2014-224+
Score: 18.5/20, 94/100
Would I buy it? Yes. Warm day. Oysters. Yes.
