Waipara Hills Pinot Noir 2012

Waipara Hills Pinot Noir 2012 (Waipara, NZ)

13%, Screwcap, $21.99
Source: Sample
A ‘nifty little Pinot’ according to the release notes and a quick internet search tells me you can pick this up for under $15, at which price it’s pretty handy drinking.

Dusty and faintly reductive on the nose, the palate filled out with quite punchy, mid-weight fruit. Initially this seems to be a little weedy and light, but the chewy back palate is actually quite genuine. It’s still a bit lightish, but the structure here is more than welcoming for he price. Serviceable.

Drink: 2014-2016
Score: 16.5/20, 88/100
Would I buy it? Not quite. But I’d recommend it.
