A reliable summer drink, this 2013 Mrs Wigley is darker than I’ve seen it in years. Not a bad thing necessarily, just an observation.

Style-wise it’s in classic form, the nose all candied Grenache redcurrant with an edge of lolly sweetness. Simple, generous pink with loads of flavour in an open, summery style. Pale and savoury it ain’t, but no shortage of juiciness, if a little sweeter than I’d like, set in a very affable form.

Entirely smashable.

Drink: 2014
Score: 16.5/20, 88/100
Would I buy it? Just a little sweet to be a more-than-one-glass proposition.
