MT.0° Shiraz 2012

MT.0° Shiraz 2012 (Grampians/Alpine Valleys, Vic)
14%, Screwcap, $25

This comes from the Grant Burge owned ‘Vignerons of the world’. A blend of Grampians/Alpine Valleys fruit in some quite modern packaging.

I’d love to know where the Alpine Valleys fruit comes from actually – Alpine Valleys sounds like such a mysterious appellation (and has been the source of some stunning Shiraz over the years, like the Wynns Oven Valleys reds of the early 90s).

It’s almost a very smart wine too. Almost. There’s some Sao and white pepper over that charismatic Grampians rich plum fruit, the mid palate full and juicy too. It’s just the finish that lets this down, which looks raw, the acid a fraction jarring. Still, 90% a winner.
