Mitchell Harris Pyrenees Shiraz 2012
Another sub 13.5% alcohol red from Mitchell Harris that looks balanced and delicious. This comes from the Peerick Vineyard at Moonambel and includes 2% co-fermented Viognier in the blend, with 50% whole bunches.
What a charmer it is too; white pepper, rare roast beef and fine sappy tannins aplenty. Low alcohol but perfectly ripe, this even has a dash of Pyrenees spearmint and fine natural acid delineation.
Red and black fruited, this has the Viognier giving prettiness, the whole package long and balanced. Really good and well balanced Shiraz! I might be understating it, but I think it will look even better next year.
Drink: 2016-2028, 18/20, 93/100+, 13%, Screwcap, $35, Sample. Would I buy it? Yes. For now and for the cellar. Buy online: Mitchell Harris website.
