Alkoomi Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Alkoomi Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Alkoomi are value champions, and this is another quality release.

The challenge with Frankland River Cabernet is the ripeness balance, and this errs just a little on the riper side without falling too far. Dusty ripe cassis fruit aplenty, the fruit here is all blackberry and less of the regional mint with just an edge of sausage. No shading the firm tannins though, giving this is very stout backbone. Great depth here, even if it’s just a little sweet and sour to be great. Good value though and real length of flavour. Best drinking: Now and up to ten years. 17.5/20, 91/100. 14.5%, $26. Would I buy it? I’d share a bottle.
