Brave Souls The Able Seaman GSM 2016

My pick from the Brave Souls releases. Just to recap, Brave Souls is ulia Weirich with the Sons of Eden crew making quite classic Barossan wines in good packaging (and well priced).

This red is a blend of Grenache (45%), Shiraz (29%) and Mourvedre (26%) with some whole bunches in the Grenache component and spends 16 months in oak. Really juicy raspberry fruit – Grenache dominating the show. How good is Grenache by the way?

Palate is a lovely sweet and savoury licoricey style with Grenache exuberance and then a savoury middle. Clever! Nails the medium weight and savoury Barossa style, and look at the price.

Best drinking: Good now and for at least eight years. Now it’s pretty tasty though. 17.7/20, 92/100. 14.5%, $24. Would I buy it? Yes.
