Mount Monument Riesling 2018

Mount Monument Riesling 2018

Wild fermented Macedon Riesling from a promising new name. Ambitious pricing for an unknown Riesling in a region not famous for Riesling (Knight Granite Hills aside). Lemon pith and mandarin, the sky-high lemony acidity balanced out with just perceptible residual sugar. A gentle white, perhaps lacking some concentration, and it didn’t need the sugar – it dulls the edges with very light lime cordial. Lovely natural acidity, but this delicate style needs a little more cohesion for mine. Best drinking: nowish, though with that acid profile you could keep some just to see what happens. 16.8/20, 89/100. 12%, $40. Would I buy it? A glass.
