Always like Tim’s Mataro, and this Tim Smith Wines Mataro 2019 is smart (again).
Sourced from two vineyards 70+ yrs old. Luscious blackberry fruit, it’s plush, deep, varietal and yet with this foreboding licoricey blackness too.
No noticeable oak, it’s all intense fruit and done very well – there’s this bitter black, withering fruit intensity which is very impressive. All-encompassing really, and although just a bit warm, the whole palate is involving (and delicious).
Yes from me.
Best drinking: the next ten years for a start. 18.5/20, 94/100. 14.5%, $42.Tim Smith Wines website. Would I buy it? Worth a bottle for sure.
