Will be interesting to see the prices of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc this year on the back of such a small harvest. At the top end, it will mean price rises perhaps, but more likely to punish the bottom end/own label market. This solid, reliably drinkable Catalina Sounds Sauvignon Blanc 2020 is very much the former category.
Intense, passionfruit-driven, riper style of Kiwi Sauvignon Blanc. There’s varietal green pea/pyrazine but also ripe fruit too, which all makes for a well-rounded wine. It falls away a bit on the finish, but the balance between stonefruit/melon character and the acidity is well done. A good drink.
Catalina Sounds Sauvignon Blanc 2020. Best drinking: now. 17/20, 90/100. 13%, $22. Catalina Sounds website. Would I buy it? I’d go a glass.
