Adelaide Hills Pinot Gris from the early drinking arm of the Shaw & Smith empire. That’s The Other Wine Co. Pinot Gris 2020 in a sentence. The wine works too.
I was scrolling through the winemaking notes, and you can really see the varietal ‘white pear’ character. Sure, everyone talks about pear in Gris, but this riper style has it. Palate is light, gently textured and nice and clean. I just want a bit more palate intensity for higher scores – it falls away a bit when it should be ramping up a gear through the mid-palate – but it’s still plenty ripe and generous enough to be good.
The Other Wine Co. Pinot Gris 2020. Best drinking: nowish. 17.5/20, 91/100. 13%, $26. The Other Wine Co. website. Would I buy it? A glass or two. Fairly priced at $26 as well.
