Ambitious, if lacking a little cohesion, this Soumah Pinot Noir Syrah 2021 is a story of contrasts. There’s a wave of plush purple fruit, herbs, and angles. Black texta, a little spiced blueberry, then the palate gets more spice driven and lighter than the initial generosity. I wanted it to pick a vibe really – generous, or light and frisky? Certainly some prettiness, but the back end also feels bony too. Could almost be Yarra Syrah Viognier with that nose., but not the palate. Interesting enough.
