Hewitson The Dorrien Bank Cabernet Sauvignon 2022

Review: Hewitson The Dorrien Bank Cabernet Sauvignon 2022

This fortnight on Australian Wine and Drinks Review I’m attacking the ‘big red’ backlog of samples with fresh vigour. It has to be reds as well because the fresh hole in my jaw that once held a wisdom tooth does not like cold drinks.

But calling this Hewitson The Dorrien Bank Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 big is a misnomer. It’s plush, round, Barossan, and super smooth, but not heavy really. It’s more Barossa than Cabernet with all the plummy fruit wedged into here, but there are some black and blue fruits to fly the Cabernet flag. his smooth criminal has a cascade of purple jube plushness, the style more about mid palate width rather than length, and enjoyable in its mode, if not quite feeling like a $90 powerhouse.
