Hirsch Hill Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2022

Review: Hirsch Hill Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2022

The best Hirsch Hill wines come from the Cabernet/Shiraz side of the Yarra equation, with this Estate Cabernet one of the top releases from this growing Yarra Valley business ran out of the old Sticks winery. This Cabernet (which came to me unlabelled, and 2021 is the current vintage and label image pictured) is handy too. Poised, pencilly red and dark fruits, a fine vein of dark tannins and leafy black edges. It sits nicely in that ‘everything is in its right place’, medium Yarra Valley Cabernet mode, with just the right amount of leafiness and tannins. It’s not super powerful, but that’s part of what makes it so drinkable, perhaps even more so than its fancier Reserve brother.

    THE VERDICT
