Finally, a Peter Lehmann red that lives up to the history of this proud Barossan name. It’s a redemption of sorts, especially after the subpar 8 Songs Shiraz. Conversely, it should be for a $120 red with a multi-decade history of greatness.
Would you buy it?
Even at six years old this looks bright and youthful. Purple. Chunky. Right. There’s a black spice and mocha power to it that I picked as some Eden Valley fruit (unconfirmed), and it’s pretty sexy. Then you descend back to the Barossa Valley floor with a dark, rich, cooked plum and mocha expansive thickness. Bright and powerful, this has bold mid-palate impact despite a little late plum liqueur alcohol warmth. The long chocolatey finish is quality, too. It may be a bit obvious, but hey, it is a premium Barossan red, after all.
A rock-solid Stonewell.

Andrew – I’m just thinking about all the lovely wines I can buy for around half this price. Afraid the name Peter Lehmann now too tarnished to even consider. Count me out
the price og this wine has indeed increased a lot this last decade… and just one point : only 11,5 % of alcohol ?
The price vs quality matrix is a frustrating metric here.
Oh and it’s 14.5% (database syncing error).
