If any variety can have the under $20 market stitched up then surely it would be Riesling. This open Clare Rizza has many likeable bits too.
Produced from Clare vineyards planted on red loam over limestone, this is carries its regional signature like a scout badge – proudly showing it off to all and sundry. It’s limey, dry, quite even, and contained, a slightly simple wine but a good example of the more expressive style of Clare Riesling.
Generous, yet dry, this is pretty good drinking.
Drink: 2013-2020
Score: 17/20 90/100
Would I buy it? Hmm. On a list at a fair price this would be a handy easy option.
