Gundog Estate Poacher’s Semillon 2013

Gundog Estate Poacher’s Semillon 2013

Aged release Semillon from Gundog. Sourced from the Somerset Vineyard too which is A-grade dirt and this feels classic. Still, the Gundog Estate Poacher’s Semillon 2013 is an unready wine. Tangy lemon curd nose with the barest hint of toast. Lemony palate is tart and taut the acidity pointy, the palate unresolved if undeniably powerful. Plenty to see here, it’s just not ready at all. Best drinking: wait five more years. 17.7/20, 92/100+. 11.5%, $60. Gundog website. Would I buy it? Not yet.
